National Championships at Homebush
As I write this we have many athletes’ about to compete in the National Championships between tonight and Saturday. You have all put in all the hard work, so relax and enjoy the experience.
Tonight is our last night of competition for the summer, this year we had had the largest registration we have had for many years and we hope you have enjoyed the competition.
We will start our Cross Country run on 2nd April. Further information on this other side of the page.
Presentation night will be held on the 16th May (Friday) starting at 7.30pm at “The Bandy” formally the Band Club.
A larger room has been booked this year so there will be no problems finding seating.
Winter Program for 2014
The Winter Cross Country will take a slightly different format to last year. We will be holding the Cross Country Races on Wednesdays as usual at 6.30 pm. You can run or walk as much as you desire. You can run as many of the one kilometre loops as you please. Once every couple of weeks we have a team’s race, where I select a series of teams to compete against each other. I found these were really popular last season. These races will start after a two week break from the track season, dated 2 April.
The West Metropolitan starts on Saturday the 29 March. There are three races every Saturday with short, medium and long races starting at 2 pm. They are all over the Western Suburbs right through winter except when State titles are on, such as State Relays. It ends in September, just before the track season starts. The program will be emailed to me in the next couple of day so will be posted on our web page calendar.
This winter we will be continuing the Sunday morning runs that we have been doing during the summer. They start at 7 am sharp, with the idea that people can run and then have the whole day to relax or do family things. The course is over two kilometres around Lake Werrington, starting at Burton Road car park. Again you can run as many laps as you like within reason, as we cannot stay all day while someone runs for hours. Mostly everyone who runs there is finished in under an hour.
We also enter teams in the Cross Country Relay Championship & Road Relays so if you are interested please let me know.
We will be closing our friends’ page on facebook soon, we invite you to go to our likes page and like us on “Nepean Senior Athletics”
